The membership criteria will be established as follows:

All existing registered members will be classified as Green members of AMATI. The criteria for Green membership will be qualification as a mediator for 3 years and either an academic qualification or paid practice as a mediation, negotiation, coach or skills trainer for 3 years. In addition it is desirable that all Green members participate annually in at least three mediations as lead or co-mediator, or as a mediation advocate or party representative, and provide as lead or co-trainer at least 10 hours mediation training or assessment annually, and undertake at least 10 hours annual mediation or training related CPD annually.

The annual subscription for Green members shall be £120 discounted to £80 in the first year of membership.

Existing or new members may apply for Silver membership upon meeting the following criteria:

Silver members shall be qualified as a mediator for 5 years and have either an academic qualification or have practised as a mediation, negotiation, coach or skills trainer for 5 years. In addition it is desirable that all Silver members participate annually in at least five mediations as lead or co-mediator, or as a mediation advocate or party representative, and provide as lead or co-trainer at least 15 hours mediation training or assessment annually, and undertake at least 10 hours annual mediation or training related CPD annually.

The annual subscription for Silver members shall be £90 discounted to £75 in the first year of membership.

Existing or new members may apply for Gold membership upon meeting the following criteria:

Gold members shall be qualified as a mediator for 10 years and have either an academic qualification or have practised as a mediation, negotiation, coach or skills trainer for 10 years. In addition it is desirable that all Gold members participate annually in at least seven mediations as lead or co-mediator, or as a mediation advocate or party representative, and provide as lead or co-trainer at least 15 hours mediation training or assessment annually, and undertake at least 10 hours annual mediation or training related CPD annually.

The annual subscription for Gold members shall be £75 discounted to £60 in the first year of membership.

Fellowship Honoris Causa

The Association shall award up to four fellowships annually to those distinguished in the field of mediation training. Fellowships shall be awarded Honoris cause upon the nomination of at least three members (of any category) and elected by the membership of the Advisory Board.

Classes of membership may be distinguished by the use of the annualised AMATI logo by members in the appropriate colour issued by AMATI against payment of the annual subscription.
